SPORTS – Immanuel sponsors boys and girls Volleyball, Basketball, co-ed Softball and Soccer and students are encouraged to participate. Other sports such as Golf, Wrestling, Tackle Football, Track, and Baseball are available at the public school for boys. Girls are invited to participate in Golf, Softball, and Track.

LEARNING DISABILITIES – Immanuel also offers learning disability help through the public school. In order to receive this help, certain testing must be done, with the parents’ permission. This would enable the public school to pick them up at Immanuel and offer students special help with specially trained teachers in learning disability.

BUS TRANSPORTATION – Public school districts in Minnesota are required by law to provide transportation to school for students in their respective districts. If you live outside of the Jackson County Central School District (JCC), transportation is required up to the district line. Once that child reaches a pickup point at the edge of the district line that child will then be transported to Immanuel. An agreement has also been worked out with Southwest Star Concept School (SSC) to transport students from that district to Immanuel. If you have any questions regarding transportation, please call the school office.

Immanuel currently has students from several different school Districts – Southwest Star Concept, Jackson County Central, and Windom, besides Spirit Lake and Estherville. It is impossible therefore, to arrange school days and days off to coincide with all of the different districts. Immanuel will set up a separate calendar, working as closely as possible with area school districts to allow for bus transportation as much as possible. There may be days, however, when some school districts who provide some of our student bussing is not available. If transportation to school on those days is not possible, we will consider it an excused absence. By following our own schedule, we will also be able to get out soon in May and still have the required number of school days.

HOT LUNCH PROGRAM
There is a Hot Lunch Program for each child at a cost of $1.80 per meal. There is a charge of $.35 for extra milk with meals and breaks. We also offer extra entrees for $.70.

We encourage every student to take part in the Hot Lunch Program as we strive to continue our 100% participation. If a child is not able to take part in the Hot Lunch Program because of health reasons, we ask that we receive a slip from the child’s Doctor.

The Hot Lunch Program receives commodities free except for the shipping costs from the government and is reimbursed a certain percentage of the cost of the meals. There are also reduced and free meals for families based upon yearly income. Applying for free and reduced meals is done by filling out an application that is confidential. If you are eligible and it will help your family income, you are encouraged to use this program. Also you will not hurt the Hot Lunch Program by taking part – as we are reimbursed by the government accordingly.

A calendar with the menus (the back side of the school calendar) comes out the beginning of the month to help you with your menu planning at home. The food item that is starred with an “*” is the main entrée. This is the item that your child may purchase an extra of each day. Milk and bread are also served each day.

Payment for the lunch program should be done in advance by check payable to “Immanuel Hot Lunch”. Please keep Hot Lunch money separate from other school monies. Students receiving free or reduced price meals are treated the same as the other students – the information is confidential.

The Hot Lunch Committee would appreciate any comments or suggestions that you may have about the meals served in the school. We strongly encourage prompt payments so that bills may be paid time.
